Basically I've tried many different headphones with PSP and those in-ear ones that give you good bass but I have found that they lack rich treble.

So this is solely my opinion but the best headphones in terms of quality I've had so far were... the official Sony headset for PSP:

Which also comes with remote control extension so that you can use the microphone too in games and for Go!Messenger and Skype. These headsets are available from Amazon (com/co.uk) but make sure you pick the right one for your PSP as the remote control plug is different in 1000 model than it is in 2000/3000.

I would have to second this since I just got a pair of those and the sound is better then what I got when I used my creative HQ-80 headphones.

Ummm... I still think that using the TV plug in 2000/3000 and connecting the audio plugs to an stereo will give you the max audio quality possible (depending of your stereo system, etc.)

Give it a try. ;\)

would be better if sony made psp with a more powerful audio output. can barely hear anything with it on a plane even with the headphones jammed good and deep in my cerebellum.

They make noise canceling headphones that are great for use on the planes. But it is Sony's policy to care about your ears so they can't really make it more powerful as it then could damage your hearing.

LOL, I wouldn't want that, the loudspeaker sound quality is horrendous, wouldn't want it louder ;\)

I highly recommend the Logitech X-530 5.1 system. It sounds very loud and it's fairly cheap. The game adapter allows you to use the speakers on the PSP, or PS3, etc. ;\)

hey guys!
the psp console (i own a 2003) is very loud if it is used with proper headphones.
i tested on my psp 2 types of headsets, both sony, both internal, one with impedance of 16 ohm, the other 32 ohm. the louder was the one with 16 ohm. it was also more expensive.
so the most suitable for your psp is the headphone with impedance 16 ohm. give it a try and come back with feedback.

Hmm.... I'm wondering if you could jack up the psp speaker's volume by increasing the voltage to the speaker inside?? (modding it..... soldering n' stuffs)

For CFW there is a plugin that allows you to boost speakers level.
There is also a homebrew called lightmp3 that allows you to boost the audio from within the app.
For hardware modding check this site out:
www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php/board,361.0.html
Plenty of cool mods there.

For full out base sound nothing comes close to a subwolfer and a sound board with suround sound. As for headphones any noise canceling ones together with the heavy preset on the psp makes for a solid base. I currently use a pair of Sony style earbuds. Average performance with good range. For 9.99 @ target they're pretty good. Anyone ever had skullcandy before? I'm dieing to get some to use.

having ofw, i have a decent set of pc speakers i use for my psp. with or without earbuds.
like vader, for bass, i use the heavy setting. i use jazz setting for better highs too depending on what i'm listening to. videos usualy sound better with the jazz setting with my setup.
